Egyptian healthtech company Reme-D, which develops and manufactures molecular diagnostic solutions, has closed a $1.45 million Pre-Series A funding round led by Anara Impact Capital, with participation from Global Innovation Fund, Africa Health Ventures, and other investors.

About Reme-D

Founded to improve access to advanced diagnostics across Africa and underserved markets, Reme-D develops accurate, rapid, affordable, and temperature-resilient molecular diagnostic tests for diseases including tuberculosis (TB), HIV, hepatitis, and human papillomavirus (HPV), a leading cause of cervical cancer in women.

Funding Details

The new funding will support the company’s plans to expand its manufacturing capacity, strengthen its regional footprint, and broaden its product portfolio.

Reme-D also plans to introduce new diagnostic tests covering genetic disorders and cancer, while increasing the number of temperature-resilient tests that can be easily transported and stored in remote areas and healthcare facilities with limited infrastructure.

Since 2023, the company has developed and commercialized 30 diagnostic products from its manufacturing facility in Cairo.

It has supplied more than 550,000 diagnostic tests across Egypt, Kenya, and Sudan.

Reme-D serves public and private laboratories, hospitals, and research institutions, while its products have been featured in international scientific publications. The company has also filed a U.S. patent application for its proprietary technology.

Reme-D recently equipped a solar-powered mobile laboratory, specially commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO) Egypt Office, to support the Egyptian Ministry of Health’s efforts in monitoring vector-borne diseases in remote areas.

After growing its team from five to 50 employees, the company is preparing to relocate to a 1,500-square-meter facility and upgrade its manufacturing equipment, increasing production capacity tenfold.

It also plans to continue expanding across African markets while strengthening its quality assurance and regulatory capabilities.

Salma Tammam, Founder and CEO of Reme-D, said:
