- JoAcademy Acquires AI Startup NoNerds in a $140,000 Deal
- Acquisition aims to strengthen AI-powered learning capabilities and expand personalized education services across the MENA region
Jordanian edtech platform JoAcademy has acquired NoNerds, an artificial intelligence-focused education technology startup, in a deal valued at $140,000.
The acquisition comes as regional edtech companies increasingly integrate generative AI technologies into their platforms to deliver more personalized and interactive learning experiences for students.
NoNerds developed an AI-native educational platform that enables students and educators to create and sell online courses.
The platform automatically analyzes educational content and generates study tools, including flashcards, quizzes, learning notes, and personalized study paths.
The platform also allows students to interact with lectures through text and voice-based questions, providing answers directly based on course and lecture content.
NoNerds has built a user base among university students in Jordan, hosting more than 120 courses and 6,000 lectures while attracting approximately 12,000 students and generating over 128,000 hours of content consumption.
Under the agreement, JoAcademy will integrate NoNerds’ AI technologies and infrastructure into its educational ecosystem as part of its strategy to expand AI-powered personalized learning solutions across the Middle East and North Africa.
JoAcademy is one of the largest edtech platforms in the Arab world, serving more than 2.1 million students across Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, and Saudi Arabia, where it operates through its ULA platform. In early 2025, the company raised $28 million in a Series B funding round led by Rua Ventures and supported by a consortium of 16 Jordanian banks.
Mohammad Al Soufi, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of NoNerds, said artificial intelligence is becoming a new knowledge infrastructure that is reshaping how people learn, think, and make decisions.
He added that NoNerds was among the early practical applications of this concept within the education sector.
Al Soufi stated that his long-term vision focuses on building systems that expand human intelligence through the next generation of AI startups and research initiatives.
At 19 years old, Al Soufi is among the youngest AI startup founders in the Middle East. He began his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 14 through web design before launching a Dubai-based web development company at 16.
He also founded the AI research lab Brainsless and is a co-founder of Planless, a Delaware-registered platform that enables founders to manage their companies alongside an AI-powered virtual co-founder.
Following the acquisition, Al Soufi joined JoAcademy to lead the company’s artificial intelligence initiatives as it continues to expand its regional education infrastructure.
