Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Theater and Performing Arts Commission has announced the launch of the second edition of “Theatrethon”, the Kingdom’s first theater-focused hackathon of its kind. The initiative aims to integrate technology with theatrical creativity and empower talents working at the intersection of theater and cultural innovation.
This second edition builds on the success of the inaugural Theatrethon, which contributed to the development of promising theatrical projects and the creation of innovative tools and performance experiences. The program reflects the Commission’s ongoing efforts to support the creative advancement of the local theater scene and to open new spaces for artistic experimentation.
Theatrethon’s second edition seeks to inspire a new generation of creators to explore the convergence of art and technology, presenting ideas and solutions that enrich the theatrical performance experience and help shape the future of theater in the Kingdom.
The program includes a series of specialized workshops and creative challenges, culminating in teams presenting their theatrical projects before a judging panel that will recognize and award the winning teams.
Theatrethon is one of the key development pathways led by the Commission to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a regional hub for performing arts, empower local talent, and expand the scope of theatrical innovation in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
