Snap Inc. Opens New Office in Saudi Arabia and Launches Creators Council to Foster Digital Creativity

Snap Inc., the developer of Snapchat, announced the opening of its new office in Saudi Arabia. The event was attended by Evan Spiegel, the co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc.; Abdullah Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; and Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Investment.

Launching the “Snap Creators Council”

In a bid to support the growing community of content creators in Saudi Arabia, Snap Inc. introduced the “Snap Creators Council” at JAX District in Diriyah. The council aims to:

  • Support users and nurture their talents.
  • Strengthen strategic partnerships with government entities and brands.
  • Empower the digital economy by unlocking new investment opportunities in the digital content sector.

Snapchat: The Leading Digital Platform in Saudi Arabia

With over 25 million monthly active users in the Kingdom, Snapchat is the go-to platform for digital communication. Key statistics reveal:

  • 90% of users are aged between 13 and 34 years.
  • Users open the app an average of 50 times per day.

The new office will enhance collaboration between Snap and the Ministry of Culture to develop local talent and contribute to the Kingdom’s vibrant cultural movement.

Dialogue with Evan Spiegel

The launch event included a discussion moderated by Joumana Al-Rashed, CEO of the Saudi Research and Media Group, featuring Evan Spiegel. The conversation highlighted Snapchat’s journey from its inception to its latest advanced technologies.

Abdullah Al-Hammadi, General Manager of Snap Inc. in Saudi Arabia, emphasized the significance of the Saudi market, stating:
“The new office strengthens user experience and supports creators who have achieved remarkable success on the platform.”

He noted that the number of Snapchat Stars in Saudi Arabia has doubled over the past three years and affirmed that the “Snap Creators Council” will be the most prominent initiative in the Middle East, fostering creativity and innovation in the Kingdom.

Hussein Freijeh, Vice President of Snap Inc. for the Middle East and North Africa, explained that expanding operations in Saudi Arabia reflects:
