10k2Startup Initiative Opens Applications for African Startups Seeking Funding and Strategic Support

Applications for the 10k2Startup initiative are now open for African startups. This program aims to provide funding and support to businesses addressing real-world problems, offering between $10,000 and $50,000.

Founded by Julius Nkansah Owusu-Kyerematen, head of Google’s multi-channel mid-market skills, 10k2Startup recognizes that access to funding and strategic guidance are major hurdles for startup growth and scaling.

Based in Ghana, the initiative tackles these challenges by investing $10,000 to $50,000 in exchange for a 15-25% equity stake. Currently, it supports startups like Homely, Nuelle Organics, and Green Tech.

“The investment decisions are based on the startup’s stage, growth potential, and traction. Essentially, the more promising the startup, the greater the investment and equity stake,” said Owusu-Kyerematen.

10k2Startup also aims to act as a strategic growth partner for the startups it supports.

“This involves providing expert guidance at every step, helping entrepreneurs overcome challenges, and connecting them with our extensive network of investors, collaborators, and customers to accelerate their growth,” Owusu-Kyerematen added.

The initiative is open to all industries and seeks tech-enabled startups using innovative technology for game-changing solutions.

“We seek founders who possess key qualities essential for success – passion, tenacity, discipline, and strategic acumen. We value founders who tackle challenges head-on, turning obstacles into stepping stones towards their ultimate vision,” said Owusu-Kyerematen.

“Meticulous planning, unwavering focus, and relentless pursuit of excellence are qualities we highly regard. Showcasing these attributes sets the stage for monumental achievements and positions your startup on the path to success.”

Applications for 10k2Startup’s second cycle are open until July 15. Startups that make the shortlist will be contacted for a 30-minute pitch session by July 31, with funding decisions made within two weeks
