Dubai, the vibrant heart of the United Arab Emirates, is witnessing the beginning of a new chapter in technology and innovation. This comes with the announcement by IBS, a joint technological venture between Jordan and the UAE, based in Dubai, of its expansion into Rwanda in 2024. This expansion follows several notable achievements by the company in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait. A significant step is the implementation of a project to develop smart kiosks known as “iKiosk” in Rwanda, in collaboration with Centrika.
This cooperation aligns with the recent visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein to Rwanda, which aimed to strengthen relations between Jordan and Rwanda. During this visit, multiple agreements were signed to improve Rwanda’s technological ecosystem, especially in the fields of information technology and digital services.
Ibrahim Daraz, the Managing Partner at IBS, expressed optimism about the project, noting that self-service kiosks would play a significant role in developing the African market. He emphasized expectations for future expansion of the project.
As for Centrika, it aims to provide smart solutions that meet the needs of the era, particularly in the areas of transportation and payment. Willy Claude Karasira, Co-Founder and CEO of Centrika, expressed enthusiasm for the launch of the new kiosks in Rwanda, asserting that they will radically change how customers interact with services such as transport tickets, entertainment, bill payments, government transactions, financial transfers, and more. These kiosks will also offer multi-language self-service, enhancing the overall customer experience.
Mohammed Al-Azza, Managing Partner at IBS, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuous research and development, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services. He pointed out that Centrika’s kiosks will be equipped for both cash and cashless payments, providing fast and convenient service around the clock.
