  • Apple may unveil a revamped Siri at WWDC in June, with privacy expected to be a major theme.
  • The new Siri could launch as a standalone app powered by Google Gemini, offering a chatbot-like experience similar to ChatGPT.
  • One possible feature is auto-deleting conversations, allowing users to delete chats after 30 days, after one year, or keeping them indefinitely.

Privacy is expected to be a central theme when Apple unveils a new version of Siri at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The Siri relaunch is widely seen as Apple’s opportunity to regain momentum in the artificial intelligence race. As part of this effort, Apple executives are expected to highlight the company’s privacy-focused approach compared to other AI companies.

According to the report, Apple may launch its first standalone Siri app, powered by Google Gemini, offering users a chatbot experience similar to ChatGPT. However, unlike some competing chatbots, the new Siri app is expected to place clearer limits on how long user information can be used and stored.

One potential feature could allow users to automatically delete Siri conversations after 30 days or one year, or choose to keep them indefinitely, similar to the options available in Apple’s Messages app.

Gurman also suggested that Apple’s strong focus on privacy may serve another purpose: helping the company justify some of Siri’s limitations compared to competing AI assistants. He also noted that this privacy messaging could draw attention away from the fact that Google may be handling part of the underlying security infrastructure.
