Syria Launches Super App “Labby” with $10 Million Foreign Investment

Syria has launched the super app "Labby" following a $10 million foreign investment, marking the country's first venture capital investment in a tech startup and supporting its digital economy ambitions.

Syria’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has announced a $10 million investment agreement to launch the super app “Labby,” marking the country’s first foreign venture capital investment in a Syrian technology startup.

The investment is expected to accelerate Syria’s digital transformation, strengthen its technology sector, and attract further regional and international investment into the country’s startup ecosystem.

Syria Unveils Labby Super App

The agreement was announced under the patronage of Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdul Salam Haykal, in the presence of Labby’s founders, investors, and entrepreneurs from Syria’s technology sector.

The new funding will support the development of a unified digital platform offering ride-hailing, delivery services, and a range of additional digital services through a single application.

The project reflects growing interest in fostering innovation and creating new opportunities for technology startups operating in Syria.

A Unified Digital Platform

Labby is designed as a “super app,” bringing multiple everyday services together within one platform to simplify the user experience.

The application will initially focus on transportation and delivery services before expanding to include additional digital solutions tailored to market demand.

By consolidating various services into one ecosystem, Labby aims to improve convenience for users while creating new opportunities for businesses and service providers.

Supporting Syria’s Digital Economy

According to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the project is part of broader efforts to establish a more supportive regulatory and investment environment for startups and technology companies.

The ministry is working to encourage entrepreneurship, strengthen innovation, and attract skilled Syrian professionals to contribute to rebuilding the country’s digital economy.

Officials also believe the initiative will help create new employment opportunities across software development, digital services, logistics, and technology-related industries.

First Foreign Venture Capital Investment in a Syrian Startup

The $10 million deal represents a milestone for Syria’s startup ecosystem, as it is the first foreign venture capital investment made in a local technology startup.

Authorities hope the investment will encourage regional and international venture capital firms to explore opportunities in Syria’s growing digital sector, including software, e-commerce, fintech, and digital services.

If successful, Labby could pave the way for additional technology investments and inspire a new generation of Syrian entrepreneurs to build scalable digital businesses.

Looking Ahead

The Syrian government views the launch of Labby as an important step toward strengthening the country’s digital economy and attracting more technology-focused investments.

Future plans include improving the regulatory framework for startups, enhancing digital infrastructure, and making it easier for technology companies to establish and expand their operations.

Additional details regarding Labby’s official launch date, service offerings, and expansion strategy are expected to be announced in the coming months.
