- Partnership with Humain aims to strengthen AI infrastructure, expand cloud computing capabilities, and develop local talent
AI technology company Luma AI has begun implementing plans to relocate part of its global computing capacity to Saudi Arabia through its new Halo project, developed in partnership with Humain, as the company seeks to support the Kingdom’s growing digital infrastructure and AI ecosystem.
Speaking to Al Arabiya, Amit Jain, CEO of Luma AI, said the initiative is designed to establish an advanced cloud-computing platform capable of meeting the increasing demands of next-generation artificial intelligence applications, particularly in visual content creation and interactive experiences powered by image and video technologies.
Jain noted that the rapid growth of generative AI is creating significant demand for high-performance computing resources and data-center infrastructure.
Luma AI currently consumes approximately 35 megawatts of computing power, a figure expected to rise to 150 megawatts by the end of the year as AI workloads continue to expand.
As part of its collaboration with Humain, the company is working on developing the technical foundations required for specialized AI data centers, including selecting the optimal computing chips and infrastructure needed to support video and image-generation workloads, which require significantly greater processing power than many other AI applications.
The partnership also includes initiatives aimed at developing local AI talent through training and knowledge-transfer programs designed to equip young professionals with the skills needed to leverage generative AI technologies in business and innovation.
The project will enable Luma AI to move part of its global digital infrastructure to Saudi Arabia while benefiting from the Kingdom’s competitive advantages, including abundant energy resources and the availability of land suitable for large-scale data-center development.
According to Jain, the initiative could strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position as a regional hub for artificial intelligence and digital technologies, while supporting the media and entertainment sectors by enabling the creation and global distribution of locally produced digital content that reflects the Kingdom’s culture and identity.
