Space Intelligence Secures Series A Funding to Expand Global Forest Mapping

Space Intelligence, a leader in high-accuracy nature mapping using satellite data, has announced the successful completion of its Series A funding round.
The round was led by new investors from AzurX Space Ventures (ASV), with participation from Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE).
The new funding will be used to expand the company’s global forest mapping database, supporting the development and financing of forest carbon projects, and enhancing environmental impact monitoring across corporate supply chains.
Commenting on the funding, Anna Hazlett, Co-Founder and CEO of ASV, said: “As space domain experts, we fully understand the crucial role these technologies play in advancing sustainable development and providing accurate insights for resource management and climate change mitigation.
Investing in space-based technologies, especially through innovative companies like Space Intelligence, is vital for harnessing the full potential of satellite data to address global environmental challenges.”
Dr. Murray Collins, Co-Founder and CEO of Space Intelligence, added: “To address the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss, it is essential to increase investment in forest conservation and restoration through mechanisms such as carbon markets and to ensure compliance with regulations like the EU Deforestation Regulation.
Stakeholders in these initiatives need reliable, independent data on land and forest cover.
Despite the abundance of satellite data, there is a significant gap in the availability of accurate, consistent insights over time and space, which impacts decision-making and reporting.
We have created an audit-grade dataset for global forest mapping using a scientific approach, and this funding will help us accelerate the production of datasets for additional regions and time periods.”
Currently, the company’s database covers 640 million hectares across seven countries, providing critical information on land cover, deforestation, and regrowth.
The database is expected to expand to include more than 35 additional countries by the end of Q2 2025, making it the largest audit-grade nature mapping dataset available.
The company is also preparing to release new data products in Q4 of this year for near real-time monitoring of deforestation and environmental degradation, which will enhance risk management and monitoring.
