Corrsy EdTech Startup Secures $500,000 Pre-Seed Funding to Revolutionize Education

Corrsy, a pioneering EdTech startup with Finnish and Iraqi roots, has successfully closed its pre-seed funding round, raising $500,000. This significant investment milestone positions Corrsy to transform education across the SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa) region with innovative learning solutions.

The investment round was led by EQIQ, a regional venture capital firm specializing in emerging markets and founded by Mohamed Al-Hakim. Notable investors include Finnish EdTech angel investor Risto Vahanen, the UK-based SuperChargers Ventures EdTech accelerator, Durubi Management Holding Company founded by Yousef Durubi, Jordanian angel investor Adel Qahwaji, and Finnish investor Pekka Hermonen.

Founded in 2019 by Mustafa Salam, Corrsy is dedicated to addressing educational challenges in Iraq and the broader SWANA region. Mustafa’s vision for Corrsy was shaped by his personal experiences during the Iraq armed conflict, where he faced significant hardships, including the loss of his father and displacement. His mission is to leverage technology to create a positive impact on education and society.

Since its inception, Corrsy has made significant strides in the EdTech space. In 2022, the company launched its first product, the Corrsy app, which has been downloaded over 500,000 times by students in Iraq. Corrsy stands out in the SWANA region as the first platform to integrate gamification, storytelling, and micro-learning into its mobile game app, providing a unique and engaging learning experience for students.

“We are thrilled to have the support of esteemed investors from across the globe, including Finland, Iraq, the MENA region, the UK, and other international backers, who share our vision of transforming education in the MENA region,” said Mustafa Salam, Founder and CEO of Corrsy. “This funding will enable us to capture the largest market share in Iraq and expand our services to other markets. Our goal is to provide high-quality education to anyone with a mobile device and internet connection, helping them pass national exams, learn for life, and enjoy the learning process.”

Over the past two years, Corrsy has developed its product in close collaboration with users, focusing on putting students at the center of the learning experience. “Our product features numerous enhancements that allow students to play and learn, alleviating the stress of national exams and motivating them to learn,” added Mustafa.

The diverse group of investors in this funding round reflects the significant potential of the EdTech market in the SWANA region. With robust backing, Corrsy is poised to lead a revolution in education, making high-quality, accessible learning a reality for students across the region.
