Enterprise Development Agency Collaborates with Rotary Clubs Union to Support Entrepreneurs

Bassel Rahmy, CEO of the Enterprise Development Agency, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ayman Nazih, District Governor of Rotary District 2451 for 2023/2024.
This agreement aims to support entrepreneurs, encourage youth to pursue self-employment, and educate them on the scientific methods of establishing and managing projects to enhance their chances of success and sustainability.
The signing ceremony was attended by several officials from the agency and the Rotary Clubs Union, including Eng. Abdel Rahman Suleiman, Chairman of the Rotary Working Groups Committee for 2023/2024.

Rahmy explained that the collaboration between the agency and Rotary Clubs is part of ongoing coordination with various development partners to support entrepreneurs and promote self-employment.

This initiative aligns with the directives of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Agency’s Board of Directors, to support this promising sector and increase its contribution to the national economy. Rahmy added that the MoU with Rotary Clubs would allow the agency to reach a broader audience across different governorates, informing them about the services provided and the benefits and facilities offered by Enterprise Development Law 152/2020 for new and existing projects.

The agency will also offer specialized training courses for entrepreneurs nominated by the Rotary Union.

These courses will cover how to prepare business plans for new ventures or develop existing ones, and how to conduct feasibility studies.

Project owners will benefit from the agency’s project development services, including marketing assistance through participation in exhibitions organized by the agency and major e-commerce platforms, thereby aiding in the development, continuity, and productivity enhancement of their projects.

Ayman Nazih, the Rotary District Governor, highlighted that the cooperation with the Enterprise Development Agency aligns with Rotary’s vision and goals to contribute to sustainable development by providing advanced services to target groups.

The union will nominate youth and citizens to benefit from the agency’s activities supporting small business owners and entrepreneurs. Coordination with the agency has been carried out through the Economic Development Committee of the district, chaired by  Nevine Badr, to participate in various events and exhibitions organized by the agency.

This helps project owners develop their skills, understand customer needs, and offer quality products that meet local market demands.

Dr. Raafat Abbas, Deputy CEO of the Enterprise Development Agency and Head of the Non-Financial Services Sector, stated that the collaboration with the Rotary Union aligns with the agency’s goals to expand entrepreneurial programs and train youth and citizens in partnership with various organizations and civil society institutions.

He noted that the agency’s training programs are designed according to international standards and in cooperation with the International Labour Organization to prepare a new generation of entrepreneurs capable of keeping up with continuous developments in local and international markets.

Nevine Badr, Chair of the Economic Development Committee of Rotary Egypt, mentioned that several events have been coordinated between the two entities, including activities to enhance financial inclusion and provide revolving loans, in addition to holding multiple training courses for entrepreneurs, youth, and women across various governorates.

Furthermore, Sherif Adeeb, the upcoming District Governor for 2024/2025, expressed his pleasure with the signing of this protocol, as it will support young and female entrepreneurs and provide a decent life for the most needy groups.

He also emphasized the importance of supporting small and micro enterprises, which are considered the driving force of development and have a positive impact on economic growth and development in Egypt.
