Launching the University Entrepreneurship Council by Monsha’at: A Strategic Step Towards Achieving Saudi Vision 2030

The General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, known as ‘Monsha’at,’ held its first session of the ‘University Entrepreneurship Council,’ with participation from a selection of officials from leading Saudi universities, both public and private. Representatives from innovation and entrepreneurship centers, the Ministry of Education, investment valleys, and various government support agencies were also in attendance.

The primary goal of establishing this council is to stimulate and develop entrepreneurship within Saudi universities. The council aims to analyze the current state of university entrepreneurship and explore effective ways to spread the culture of entrepreneurship within the university environment. It also aims to exchange ideas and experiences that support university entrepreneurial projects and enhance their role in building and developing the local economy, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. These initiatives receive significant support from the National Transformation Program and the Human Capacity Development Program.

During the meeting, the best practices and successful experiences in university entrepreneurship were reviewed, both locally and internationally. Opportunities and challenges facing universities, investment valleys, and entrepreneurship-supporting entities were discussed, to find stimulating solutions that support integration and harmony between these roles.

This initiative is part of Monsha’at’s efforts to enhance and support the entrepreneurship environment in the Saudi university sector, focusing on developing the national economy enhancing the sustainability of entrepreneurial projects, and facilitating the overcoming of challenges that entrepreneurs may face, thereby .enhancing the chances of success and growth of their businesses
