Egypt Officially Launches 5G Services: Egyptian Telecom Company Secures First License

The Egyptian Cabinet has announced the granting of the first 5G network operating license to the Egyptian Telecom Company, marking a significant milestone in the history of the country’s telecommunications sector. This announcement was made in an official statement from the Cabinet on Wednesday.

During the signing ceremony, attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, it was confirmed that the Egyptian Telecom Company had signed the license with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority. The license for operating 5G networks is valued at 150 million US dollars and is valid for 15 years, without any additional privileges or renewals.

The signing of this license is part of the Egyptian government’s efforts to provide the latest technologies to both institutions and individuals in Egypt. According to the Cabinet’s statement, this event is a significant step towards achieving digital transformation in the country.

Furthermore, Minister of Communications Amr Talaat pointed out that the availability of 5G technologies will have a profound impact on various sectors in Egypt. He emphasized that this technology would positively contribute to the national economy and enhance Egypt’s position in international indices in the fields of telecommunications and information technology.

The minister also mentioned that 5G networks would offer extremely high speeds, which will help accelerate the process of digital transformation. These speeds will open up opportunities for innovation and development in various areas, including virtual reality, industrial automation, applications related to the fourth industrial revolution, smart cities, smart ports, healthcare, and remote control of devices, among other advanced technological applications.
