Dubai Airports honors ROVAR for improving passenger experience through VISTA

Dubai Airports, the operator of the world’s largest international airport, has announced the victory of Rovar in the innovative idea challenge organized by the Vista platform.

The challenge took place on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow 2023, which concluded its proceedings last week.

The Vista platform aims to support startups and entrepreneurs in the global aviation sector. Rovar, a UK-based startup, clinched the award for its smart guide that utilizes augmented and virtual reality technologies. The guide provides comprehensive information about each stage of the traveler’s journey.

The judging panel, comprised of influential figures in the aviation industry, included Issa Al Shamsi, Deputy Senior Vice President of Passenger Operations at Dubai Airports; Kate Janley, Director of Enterprise Planning; Neil Key, Vice President for Design; and Samuel Tiabji, Director of Corporate Strategy.

Issa Al Shamsi expressed delight in announcing Rovar’s victory in the innovation challenge, highlighting the alignment of their solutions with Dubai Airports’ vision to enhance the experience of traveling guests. He hoped for the swift implementation of Rovar’s idea.

Rovar’s smart guide allows travelers to explore airport facilities using augmented reality on their smartphones. It offers a personalized experience, allowing passengers to control digital content during their journey.

This initiative is part of Dubai Airports’ efforts to improve passenger experience through artificial intelligence and augmented reality technologies.

Dubai Airports had previously implemented queue monitoring sensor systems and self-service technologies in collaboration with Emirates Airlines to enhance operational efficiency and provide a seamless travel experience for passengers.
