- Saudi Central Bank revokes license of Marta, a digital payments company
- Decision follows regulatory violations related to payment services framework
The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has announced the revocation of the operating license granted to Marta Financial , a company specializing in electronic payment services, which was classified as a small payments firm in the Kingdom.
According to the central bank’s decision issued today, the license was withdrawn due to the company’s failure to meet licensing requirements stipulated under Article 17 of the Implementing Regulations of the Payment System and its Services.
SAMA also called on stakeholders with existing rights or claims to refer directly to the company for further action.
The central bank further emphasized the importance of dealing only with financial institutions that are officially licensed and regulated by SAMA.
