LAB7, the venture-building arm of Saudi Aramco, has announced its participation in closing a seed investment round to support Finnish company Halide Energy, which specializes in developing advanced battery solutions to enable the global transition toward renewable energy.
The round was led by BSV Ventures.
The investment focuses on accelerating the development of Halide Energy’s innovative Redox Flow battery technology for large-scale grid energy storage applications.
This technology aims to address grid-stability challenges arising from the growing integration of intermittent renewable energy sources.
The agreement is intended to support the expansion of Halide Energy’s operations and speed up the rollout of transformational technologies in the energy sector.
Through its collaboration with LAB7, Halide Energy will continue developing its copper-based battery systems and preparing them for commercial deployment.
These long-duration energy storage solutions rely on abundant and cost-efficient materials and utilize water-based electrolytes, helping to significantly reduce operational and maintenance costs through simplified manufacturing processes.
