Launch of “H2GO Water Innovation” Project in Jordan to Support Startups in the Water Sector
The “H2GO Water Innovation” project, the first water innovation accelerator in Jordan, has been officially launched. Funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and in partnership with Impact MENA, this initiative aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the water conservation technology sector in Jordan. The focus is on supporting startups, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing and marketing advanced technologies that contribute to significant water savings across various sectors.
Engineer Khaled Nassar, Business Development Services Specialist at the Water Conservation Project, stated that the “H2GO Water Innovation” project is a pioneering initiative designed to bring about a significant shift in the water sector by enabling Jordanian companies to achieve substantial water usage savings. The project also aims to enhance the investment and funding readiness of these companies, while creating new job opportunities, particularly for youth and women.
Nassar further explained that the accelerator will provide specialized consultations and training for SMEs and local manufacturers, helping them expand their innovations and increase their sales. The project will also address the challenges of water scarcity in Jordan by empowering entrepreneurs and developing sustainable solutions that benefit both society and the economy.
Frank O’Brien, Director of the Water Conservation Project, highlighted that the launch of the “H2GO Water Innovation” project marks a crucial step in improving water usage efficiency in Jordan. He expressed his hope that the innovative ideas generated through this program will lead to a tangible impact on how Jordan addresses its water challenges.
Farhan Kalaldeh, CEO and Co-founder of Impact MENA, emphasized the importance of this project as a unique opportunity to contribute to water sustainability efforts in Jordan. He outlined that the initiative will unfold in three main phases: assessing the needs of participating companies, providing technical support and training, and finally organizing networking and promotional events aimed at showcasing the companies’ innovations to potential investors and partners.
It is noteworthy that the launch of the accelerator included a panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing startups in the water sector in Jordan, offering a platform for the exchange of ideas and the exploration of innovative solutions in this vital area.
