Majarra Acquires Lableb, a Leading Arabic AI Company: A Strategic Step for Expansion in a Rapidly Growing Sector
Empowering the Arabic Language in the Digital Age
Majarra, an Arab content company, has announced its acquisition of Lableb, the leading company in Arabic language AI solutions and natural language processing. This strategic move solidifies Majarra’s leadership role in Arab digital innovation and promises entry into the rapidly growing AI sector.
Enabling Arabic Language in the Digital Era
While both companies had common founders and shareholders, this acquisition now makes Majarra the majority owner of Lableb, allowing for greater integration between the two companies. The acquisition aligns with Majarra’s vision of a qualitative leap in the quality of Arab digital content and user experience, and the development of Arabic language technology in the region instead of relying solely on foreign platforms.
Arabic Intelligence Solutions for Arabic Language Challenges
Lableb uses AI and natural language processing technologies to provide software products for content discovery and customization, including the Lableb search and recommendation engine within websites. A diverse range of clients has relied on Lableb’s engine, including e-commerce stores, government platforms, news sites, and enterprise software providers, where user experience needs precision in processing the Arabic language to access the desired products. Lableb collaborates with major companies such as Microsoft and Amazon Web Services, and integrates with leading e-commerce platforms like Zid, Salla, Shopify, and content management software companies like NVS Soft.
Innovation-Centered Partnership
Majarra was among the first companies to adopt Lableb’s technology in Arabic intelligence. Lableb has enhanced Majarra’s “Manhom” platform with highly accurate Named Entity Recognition (NER) technology, making “Manhom” the leading platform for information about people and institutions in the Arab world. The Lableb engine also improved content search efficiency in the Majarra app and its platforms, helping users reach the desired content directly through intelligent search in tens of thousands of materials.
Independence Supporting Growth
Lableb will maintain its operational independence and its focus on providing products that address the challenges machines face in dealing with the Arabic language. The richness of Arabic vocabulary and structures, changing meanings with different conjugations, complex sentence constructions, contextual semantics, and the diversity of Arabic dialects, among other unique characteristics, posed significant obstacles to machine learning and processing efforts. Lableb is one of the few companies that succeeded in overcoming these challenges.
Content, Tools, and Large Language Models
In a joint message announcing this strategic step, Majarra Chairman Abdel Salam Haykal and CEO Ammar Haykal stated, “Majarra and Lableb share the same principles and vision. Under Kinda’s leadership and with the team’s belief in the opportunity that Arabic AI and natural language processing (NLP) offer for business development in the region, the company has consistently delivered an outstanding product. We see immense potential in Lableb for introducing tools that achieve the practical benefits of large language models, some of which originated from our region.”
