Communications Officer: Egyptian interest in entrepreneurs and technology to transfer our pioneering experience

Dr. Hossam Othman, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Technological Innovation, Electronics Industry, and Training in Egypt, shed light on the operations of approximately 20 innovation centers across 20 Egyptian cities.

Each center provides a variety of decentralized, end-to-end services to entrepreneurs.

In an exclusive interview with “Entarabi” during its media sponsorship of the Techne Summit 2024 held in Cairo from May 25 to 27, he explained that these services are divided into stages.

The first stage involves attracting young entrepreneurs, introducing them to the available services, educating them about entrepreneurship, and training them to develop new project ideas that have not previously existed.

It also includes engaging them in various competitions and programs and the possibility of turning their ideas into viable business models through specialized “pre-incubation” programs.

These programs group young entrepreneurs to transform their ideas into income-generating projects.

He added that following this step, an “incubation team” is formed to prepare the entrepreneur to establish a legally structured company.

This involves providing technical support, consulting services, and funding in the form of grants, as well as preparing the young entrepreneurs to participate in conferences where they can present their ideas to business incubators and various investors for support.

Dr. Othman indicated that the ministry aims to cover the country’s cities with between 27 and 30 innovation centers, with at least one center in each Egyptian governorate, in addition to increasing the number of centers in the capital, Cairo.

He emphasized that through the new edition of the 2024 Techne Summit, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology aims to maximize the participation of entrepreneurs with companies and investors.

This initiative is intended to enhance their experiences, showcase their ideas and success stories, reaffirm the Egyptian state’s support for entrepreneurs, encourage them, and promote the concept of entrepreneurship.
