Geo Cycle Company: Leadership in Recycling Industrial Waste and Achieving Environmental Sustainability in Egypt

During a media conference organized by “Mindsalike” yesterday in downtown Cairo, Adham El-Mahdi, the General Manager of Geo Cycle, provided a comprehensive overview of the company’s activities and strategies in the field of waste recycling in a detailed interview with “You are Arabic”. Geo Cycle is distinguished as a leading company in this field, heavily investing in advanced technologies and methods to transform industrial and municipal waste into useful resources, with a focus on minimizing negative environmental impacts.

El-Mahdi explained that the company annually processes between 250 to 350 thousand tons of waste. This waste includes a variety of materials such as expired food products, medical and pharmaceutical materials, as well as other wastes like tires and plastics. These wastes are handled in ways that ensure public safety and environmental preservation, turning them into fuel used in the industry, thereby reducing the need for more polluting resources like coal.

El-Mahdi emphasized the importance of green hydrogen and environmental carbon dioxide as key products of Geo Cycle. These products not only provide solutions for energy problems but also enhance environmental sustainability. They are primarily used in cement factories, helping to reduce coal usage and the carbon footprint of the industry.

It’s noteworthy that Geo Cycle’s plans are in line with Egypt’s 2030 strategy, focusing on the green economy and reducing carbon emissions. These plans include recycling nearly 620 thousand tons of municipal waste by 2026, with the goal of recycling over a million tons by 2030.

In the field of occupational safety and health, Geo Cycle has obtained international certifications such as ISO and works to secure its employees by providing a safe work environment that respects international standards, especially in handling flammable materials.

El-Mahdi referred to the significant growth in the company’s investments in Egypt, which increased from 5 million Swiss Francs in 2018 to 14.6 million dollars currently. Among Geo Cycle’s most prominent clients are companies like the French Lafarge, and a number of global pharmaceutical and petroleum companies.

In conclusion, El-Mahdi reaffirmed Geo Cycle’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment and participating in various environmental initiatives, such as cleaning beaches from plastic materials and promoting circular economy and sustainability, in collaboration with civil society and development organizations.
