Saudi Arabia has ranked 13th globally out of 70 countries in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking 2026, advancing four places from the previous edition and strengthening its position among the world\u2019s most competitive economies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ranking, issued by the World Competitiveness Center at the International Institute for Management Development, is one of the key global reports that measures the competitiveness of national economies across several main and sub-indicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saudi Arabia\u2019s progress in the 2026 edition was supported by improved performance across all four main pillars of the report: economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure. The Kingdom also advanced in 15 out of 20 sub-factors included in the ranking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With this result, Saudi Arabia ranked third among G20 countries, after the United States and China. It also outperformed several major economies in the government efficiency and business efficiency pillars, according to the indicators measured by the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saudi Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Saudi Competitiveness Center, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi, said the Kingdom\u2019s progress in the World Competitiveness Ranking and other international indicators reflects the impact of the economic and regulatory reforms being implemented under Saudi Vision 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to IMD, Saudi Arabia\u2019s strong performance was driven by improvements in economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure, in addition to progress in several sub-indicators, including international trade, employment, and business legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report showed positive performance across all main pillars. Saudi Arabia advanced in economic performance from 17th to 12th place, in government efficiency from 17th to 12th place, in business efficiency from 12th to 9th place, and in infrastructure from 31st to 28th place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saudi Arabia also achieved leading positions in several sub-indicators, ranking among the top three globally in 17 indicators. These included exports of commercial services growth, terms of trade, support of banking and financial services for business activities, cybersecurity in companies, and the number of internet users per 1,000 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kingdom also ranked among the world\u2019s top 10 in 74 sub-indicators out of 262, reflecting broad progress in the business environment and the overall competitiveness of the Saudi economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The results of the Executive Opinion Survey highlighted several factors that enhance the attractiveness of Saudi Arabia\u2019s business environment, including the dynamism of the Saudi economy, government efficiency, reliable infrastructure, policy stability and predictability, access to financing, strong corporate governance, an effective legal environment, and a business-friendly climate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saudi Arabia\u2019s continued progress in the ranking reflects the joint efforts of the Saudi Competitiveness Center and relevant government entities, including the continuous updating of national data, monitoring of international indicators, and the implementation of legislative, procedural, and technical reforms aimed at improving business efficiency and strengthening the Kingdom\u2019s competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
