Prometheus, a physical AI startup co-founded by Jeff Bezos and Vik Bajaj, the former co-founder of Verily, Google\u2019s life sciences unit, has announced a $12 billion funding round at a $41 billion valuation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new funding came from Bezos himself, alongside major financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and BlackRock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to CNBC, this is the company\u2019s second fundraising round. Prometheus launched late last year with an initial raise of $6.2 billion, positioning it as one of the most closely watched startups in the emerging physical AI sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prometheus is developing what it calls an \u201cartificial general engineer\u201d \u2014 software capable of automating the design and manufacturing of complex physical systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prometheus currently has around 150 employees across offices in San Francisco, London, and Zurich. However, the company has not yet revealed many details about what it has already built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bezos indicated that a large portion of the newly raised capital will go toward the company\u2019s compute requirements, a critical factor for developing advanced AI systems capable of working with complex physical and engineering problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bezos brings deep experience in large-scale operations and automation through Amazon, where he serves as executive chairman and remains the company\u2019s largest individual shareholder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amazon employs more than 1.5 million people worldwide. At the same time, the company has accelerated its automation strategy under CEO Andy Jassy, while also laying off tens of thousands of employees over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
