The fund takes a deeply thematic and hands-on approach, leveraging its experience in building and scaling fintech ventures.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"712\" data-end=\"758\">Strengthening Africa\u2019s Fintech Ecosystem<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"759\" data-end=\"1039\">The new IFC investment is part of First Circle Capital\u2019s US$30 million fund, aimed at empowering African fintech startups not only with capital but also with operational support, strategic guidance, and early business development to prepare them for Series A growth.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1041\" data-end=\"1129\">To date, the fund has completed 15 investments across eight African markets, with:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1350\">\n<li data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1192\">\n<p data-start=\"1132\" data-end=\"1192\">30% of portfolio companies led or co-founded by women,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1193\" data-end=\"1241\">\n<p data-start=\"1195\" data-end=\"1241\">50% operating in multiple countries, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1242\" data-end=\"1350\">\n<p data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1350\">a target of 24 total investments, with follow-on funding reserved for high-conviction opportunities.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1357\" data-end=\"1404\">Backing Diversity and Scalable Innovation<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1405\" data-end=\"1492\">In addition to the US$6 million IFC commitment, First Circle Capital has secured:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1819\">\n<li data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1572\">\n<p data-start=\"1495\" data-end=\"1572\">US$2 million from the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1573\" data-end=\"1615\">\n<p data-start=\"1575\" data-end=\"1615\">US$3 million approved from DGGF,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1616\" data-end=\"1819\">\n<p data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"1819\">and further backing from FSD Africa, MSMEDA, Axian Group, and several prominent family offices and tech founders, including Jens Hilgers, Tim Schumacher, Peter Steinberger, and Steve Anavi.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1821\" data-end=\"2037\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">This collective support underscores growing global confidence in Africa\u2019s fintech potential and the critical role early-stage capital plays in shaping the next generation of financial innovation across the continent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IFC invested US$6 million in First Circle Capital to support its mission of funding early-stage fintech startups across Africa.
