The announcement was made during Meta\u2019s annual shareholder meeting held on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"444\" data-end=\"602\">This major milestone follows the company\u2019s launch of a standalone Meta AI app in April, marking a significant expansion in the tool\u2019s accessibility and usage.<\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\" data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"807\">\n<p data-start=\"606\" data-end=\"807\">\u201cOur focus this year is on deepening the experience and making Meta AI the leading personal AI assistant \u2014 with an emphasis on personalization, voice conversations, and entertainment,\u201d said Zuckerberg.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"809\" data-end=\"970\">Zuckerberg further noted that the company plans to continue growing the user base before introducing monetization strategies. As Meta AI evolves, he explained,<\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\" data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"1116\">\n<p data-start=\"973\" data-end=\"1116\">\u201cThere will be opportunities to either insert paid recommendations or offer a subscription service so that people can pay to use more compute.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1118\" data-end=\"1305\">According to CNBC, Meta had earlier planned to launch the standalone app in Q2 of the year and test a paid subscription service similar to other generative AI tools like OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<blockquote dir=\"ltr\" data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1457\">\n<p data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1457\">\u201cIt may seem kind of funny that a billion monthly actives doesn\u2019t feel like scale for us \u2014 but that\u2019s where we\u2019re at,\u201d Zuckerberg told shareholders.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1459\" data-end=\"1673\">During the shareholder meeting, investors voted on <strong data-start=\"1510\" data-end=\"1522\">14 items<\/strong>, including <strong data-start=\"1534\" data-end=\"1564\">nine shareholder proposals<\/strong> covering issues like <strong data-start=\"1586\" data-end=\"1628\">child safety, greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong>, and a <strong data-start=\"1636\" data-end=\"1672\">proposed Bitcoin treasury report<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1675\" data-end=\"1951\">One such proposal \u2014 submitted by <strong data-start=\"1708\" data-end=\"1717\">JLens<\/strong>, an investment advisor affiliated with the <strong data-start=\"1761\" data-end=\"1787\">Anti-Defamation League<\/strong> \u2014 requested an annual report addressing hate content on Meta\u2019s platforms, including antisemitism, following January policy changes that relaxed content moderation.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" data-start=\"1953\" data-end=\"2289\">Preliminary voting results indicated that <strong data-start=\"1995\" data-end=\"2022\">board-opposed proposals<\/strong> were unlikely to pass \u2014 including one that proposed ending Meta\u2019s <strong data-start=\"2089\" data-end=\"2119\">dual-class share structure<\/strong>, which gives Zuckerberg significant voting power.
