The Abu Dhabi Business Center, part of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), has announced the addition of 30 new activities to the “Freelancer License,” which allows both citizens and residents to engage in a variety of economic activities.<\/p>\n

This initiative is part of ADDED\u2019s ongoing efforts to enhance the economic environment in the emirate, aimed at encouraging investment and enabling entrepreneurs and freelancers to establish and conduct their businesses at low cost, while benefiting from the extensive opportunities offered by Abu Dhabi’s growing economy.<\/p>\n

The Freelancer License also helps leverage the extensive knowledge and expertise of professionals by allowing them to offer specialized services to companies, institutions, and individuals.<\/p>\n

This contributes to economic diversification and accelerates the transition to a knowledge- and innovation-based economy.<\/p>\n

The new activities added by ADDED to the Freelancer License include services such as artificial intelligence development, designing systems and software for electronic devices, software design for oil and natural gas fields, data classification and analysis services, computer systems and software innovation, 3D printing production, and e-sports player support services, among many others in various vital sectors.<\/p>\n

With these additions, the total number of activities covered by the Freelancer License has increased to 100.<\/p>\n

Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Business Center, emphasized that ADDED is committed to keeping pace with local and global economic developments and providing necessary facilities for various commercial and economic activities.<\/p>\n

He stated, “This step reflects our firm commitment to expanding the range of economic activities available to entrepreneurs in Abu Dhabi and meeting the aspirations of freelancers to enhance their effective contribution to building a strong, resilient, and diversified economy.”<\/p>\n

Al Mansouri also noted that the Freelancer License witnessed significant demand last year, with 1,013 licenses issued for various activities available to freelancers.<\/p>\n

He reiterated ADDED\u2019s commitment to continuing efforts to provide a supportive and stimulating environment for innovation, thereby enhancing the contribution of professionals to economic stimulation and solidifying Abu Dhabi\u2019s position as a preferred destination for talent, business, and investment.<\/p>\n

To obtain a Freelancer License, applicants must demonstrate their expertise in the relevant activity through academic qualifications in the same field, or through practical experience or recognized achievements in the related area.<\/p>\n
