Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has participated in a $405 million Series C funding round for digital banking platform Plata, bringing the company’s valuation to $5 billion.

The round was led by Bicycle Capital, with participation from a mix of new and existing global investors. QIA did not disclose the size of its investment.

The sovereign fund continues to expand its exposure to global technology and artificial intelligence companies, with a portfolio that includes firms such as Databricks, Ayar Labs, and a recent investment in WHOOP.

Plata provides digital financial services across several markets in Latin America, operating its core banking activities under the name Banco Plata in Mexico.
