Saudi Arabia has officially joined the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence), affiliated with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in a move aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a strategic player in the data and artificial intelligence landscape and reaffirming its leading role in shaping the future of advanced technologies globally.
The new membership reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in shaping the future of advanced technologies and is expected to strengthen global confidence within the tech community, while attracting high-quality investments, major technology companies, and entrepreneurs.
Saudi Arabia is represented in the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) through the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), which receives continued support and attention from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister and Chairman of SDAIA.
The Kingdom’s accession is expected to enhance global trust in Saudi Arabia’s regulatory environment, attract quality investments, leading technology companies, and entrepreneurs, and support national efforts to localize advanced technologies and increase the digital economy’s contribution to GDP, in line with national strategic objectives.
About the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence
The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) is a global platform launched as part of an initiative stemming from the G7.
It aims to promote the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence technologies, bringing together 46 countries alongside academics, civil society representatives, governments, and industry leaders.
GPAI seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice, while supporting research and development activities aligned with global AI priorities, in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
