Egypt Entrepreneurship to Entrabi: Launching a terms and conditions booklet for incubators within two weeks

Dr. Heba Zaki, the founder and executive director of the Egypt Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center under the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, highlighted the center’s participation in the Techne Summit 2024, hosted by Egypt over three days.

The participation aimed to amplify the role of women in educational technology, emphasizing that the Ministry of Planning has been strongly supporting this crucial issue since 2017.

In an exclusive interview with “Entarabi,” the media sponsor of the Techne Summit 2024 held from May 25 to 27, Dr. Zaki explained that efforts in 2017 were fragmented and achieved modest goals.

However, by 2023, the entrepreneurship framework was restructured, culminating in the establishment of the Egypt Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.

This restructuring facilitated the training of approximately 60,000 young men and women nationwide through 10 to 12 different training activities in entrepreneurship, including pre-incubation stages and business accelerators.

She further announced the imminent launch of the national incubation and business acceleration program, StartUp Misr, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, within the next two weeks.

The program’s terms of reference will be released to enable startups to participate effectively.

Dr. Zaki pointed out that around 1,000 young men and women across the country’s cities and governorates have already been trained, enhancing inclusive development in line with sustainable development goals.

Women and girls constituted more than 58% of the participants, the highest proportion among the total participants, reflecting their keen interest and confidence in these programs, thanks to successful role models.

She emphasized that this percentage underscores the commitment of women and girls to participate without hesitation, owing to the presence of exemplary successful models.

The Egyptian government is dedicated to including all societal segments, particularly women, ensuring fair representation in entrepreneurship training programs with a 50/50 gender ratio.

This commitment is evident in all stages, from idea generation to pre-incubation and beyond.

Dr. Zaki also revealed that the Egyptian government is keen on opening up to Arab countries and exchanging experiences to enhance women’s and youth’s participation in entrepreneurship support programs and to provide exceptional services.
